A sentencing hearing begins this morning for a Longview man who pleaded guilty Friday to murder.

Dominique Shaquille Marquis Harvey, 23, faces between five and 99 years or life in prison for fatally shooting Cameron Taye Brooks, 19, at the Highland Village Apartments in Longview on Sept. 21, 2017.

Brooks was a Tyler Junior College student.

Harvey entered a guilty plea to the murder Friday in Gregg County’s 124th District Court. A jury was selected Monday to hear sentencing arguments, which begin at 9 a.m. today at the Gregg County Courthouse.

Harvey is being held in the Gregg County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
