The Longview Fairgrounds was overflowing with school spirit Thursday night.

Seven high school students representing each of Gregg County’s school districts competed for the title of Miss Gregg County, with the crown going to Randi Floyd of Longview High School. Floyd was the first Lobo since 1997 to win the annual pageant.

Students from the seven schools packed the stage area set up at the Gregg County Fair, yelling their support and holding signs backing their contestants. Many in the crowd were dressed in their school’s colors — or even wearing brightly colored wigs and face and body paint.

Kilgore High School took home the Spirit Award during Friday’s event.
