East Texas youths are taking advantage of the end of school by filling their days with all sorts of activities, from camps to vacation Bible schools to warm, late-spring afternoons at their favorite swimming hole.
Lake Gladewater was the scene Wednesday for a group of friends with a rope swing and an embankment — and lots of splashes.
The kids have a few more days to enjoy the sun before rain returns. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies today with a high near 85, followed by mostly sunny Friday and a high near 88 and partly sunny Saturday and a high near 91.
Rain is expected to move in Sunday, with a 40 percent chance of storms and a high near 89, the weather service says, followed by rain chances for Monday and Tuesday.
And, no, it’s not summer yet. Summer is just around the corner — it officially begins June 21 and will end Sept. 23.
