MARSHALL — A former Harrison County treasurer’s clerk has been arrested on a charge of abuse of official capacity, accused of stealing between $1,500 and $20,000 from the county, and fired.
Terri Ann Pace, 51, of Marshall was arrested Tuesday morning and released later on a $10,000 bond.
Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Sgt. Jean Dark said the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office asked the Texas Rangers to investigate some discrepancies found during an internal financial audit.
Pace, who was hired in August 2016, worked as chief deputy treasurer for once-County Treasurer Jamie Noland. On Jan. 1, she transferred to Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Nancy George’s office as a court clerk.
According to the county’s records, Pace has been on paid administrative leave since June 21, pending the Rangers’ investigation. She was fired after her arrest.
