The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting that occurred Saturday night on Pope City Road.

Chief Deputy Brandon Fletcher, in a written statement, said Harrison County deputies responded to a call about a shooting at 11:03 p.m. Saturday. He said the caller, Kimberley Fuller, said she and her brother had been hearing gunshots around their home most of the day.

Fuller told the deputies the two thought they heard someone outside their home, so they went outside to check, Fletcher said. Both were armed with rifles.

“After inspecting the property, the caller said they were walking back to the house when she stumbled and accidentally shot her brother in the shoulder,” Fletcher said.

Fuller ran inside to call 911, gathered some towels and returned outside to apply pressure on her brother’s wounds, Fletcher said.

Her brother, Cody Hordern, was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall for treatment.

No charges have been filed at this time, Fletcher said.
