From staff reports
Longview police arrested a man Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl while he was staying at her mother’s home, according to the arrest warrant.
Vladimir Diaz Cano, 35, of Longview remained in Gregg County Jail on a $300,000 bond Tuesday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 and on an immigration detainer, jail records showed.
Cano was living in the Longview home when on or about Nov. 1, he touched the child’s genitals, the report said.
In November, the girl told her brother, who, in turn, told their mother, the report said. The girl’s father found out from a family friend and called police Jan. 1.
Authorities arranged an interview with the girl Jan. 7 at the Martin House Children’s Advocacy Center, during which the child described several times in which Cano made her touch his genitals and he touched her genitals, the report said.
The girl also described another sex act between her and Cano, the warrant said.
Cano met with investigators Jan. 28 at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and denied touching the girl or being alone with her, the warrant said.
Longview police arrested him at 5:50 p.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of Alpine Road, according to jail records.
