Longview police arrested a 52-year-old woman Monday morning after the second visit to her house and charged her with assaulting a disabled woman, according to a report.

Sharvell Mallette Kelly of Longview was being held Tuesday on a $5,000 bond in Gregg County Jail on a charge of injury to a disabled person/intentional bodily injury, jail records show.

Officers responded to a domestic call in the 200 block of East Melton Street and met in the yard with Kelly and the victim, who was limping and breathing rapidly, the report said.

The victim, who was visiting a relative at the location, told police Kelly knocked her onto the floor, hurting her right knee and leg, the report said. She said Kelly had been picking on her and arguing with her since the victim arrived at the home at 5:30 a.m.

After the first police visit, the victim said Kelly told her to get off a recliner, and grabbed the victim’s cellphone, threw it on the floor and smashed it, according to the report. The victim said Kelly shoved her from behind after the victim got out of the chair to retrieve her phone, causing the victim to fall and hurt her right knee.

The victim told police she could not defend herself because of her disabilities, which include an enlarged heart, diabetes and a back injury, the report said.

Police detected an odor of alcohol on Kelly’s breath and said her eyes were glassy and her speech was slurred, according to the report. The victim requested an ambulance, and the Longview Fire Department took her to a Longview hospital.
