Police were called to a scene today where they said a man became combative and stripped naked after driving a vehicle that struck six others on Gilmer Road.

According to police, the man was driving southbound on Gilmer Road at about 11:30 a.m. in a pickup and weaving in and out of traffic and hanging out the window.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle struck several other vehicles before causing a wreck blocking traffic in the 3300 block of Gilmer Road.

The man became combative after the wreck and tried to fight his son, bystanders and officers and took off all of his clothes at a car wash near Hawkins Parkway.

Police said the suspect tried to grab a gun out of an officer’s holster during the scuffle.

According to police scanner traffic, officers used a Taser on the man before he was restrained and taken to a local hospital where he will remain before being booked into the Gregg County Jail.

The man's name and any injuries have not been released.
