A shot was fired into a Wiley College residence hall early Monday, Marshall police said.

No one was injured in the shooting, which police said happened about 12:15 a.m. in the parking lot of Strickland Hall near University Avenue and Wiley Avenue in Marshall.

According to police, a vehicle thought to be occupied by two people drove into the parking lot. An exchange of gunfire ensued. The vehicle crashed into a retaining wall but the driver left the scene before officers arrived.

The vehicle was described as a black sedan with extensive front-end damage.

Police determined one of the bullets went through the window of a room. None of the three people inside were hurt.
