    Robin Y. Richardson is an award winning print journalist, who writes for The Marshall News Messenger as the senior reporter, covering courts and county affairs. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas Southern University in 2002 and a master’s in human services administration from Louisiana State University-Shreveport in 2006. She is a 1998 graduate of Marshall High School in Marshall, Texas. She’s been honored for several awards including 2015 first place Specialty Reporting from the Texas Associated Press of Managing Editors (Texas APME), 2014 first place Freedom of Information award(Class A) from Texas APME, 2006 Investigative Reporter of the Year from Texas APME, 2004 Media Honor Roll award for providing fair and balanced reporting to the community about public schools, and a 2012 NAACP media award for journalistic excellence and service to the community –-- to name a few. Richardson enjoys informing the community about pertinent issues, giving others a voice through her writings and covering patent infringement cases filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas-Marshall Division, known as the nation's leading federal court to hear high profile intellectual property disputes. During her 13 years at the News Messenger, Richardson has had the pleasure of personally interviewing renowned actor, writer and director Tyler Perry during his victory in a copyright infringement case tried in Marshall. Richardson was also one of the first reporters to personally interview famed actor and filmmaker Denzel Washington during his research and preliminary production work on the movie "The Great Debaters", based off of the Wiley College debate team in Marshall. Richardson is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She’s active in her community, her sorority and at her church, Union Missionary Baptist Church. She is the proud mother of one precious kindergartner.
